Learn to Play Blues Harp Harmonica
What Is the Best Blues Harp?

I am a beginner at the harp and I would like to know what is the best choice in harmonicas for blues?  Even though I’m a beginner I would still like a high quality harp. Maybe something in the $30 to $50 dollar range. Thanks in advance.

MARINE BAND HARMONICA

The old reliable Blues Harp from Hohner is still one of the best. One thing that is so special about this harp is that you can blow or draw air in a certain way to get half tones out of it. Even a chromatic harmnonica cannot get THAT special off tune sound that the Blues harp does. The best keys are G, A , Bb or C.  Enjoy!

It’s not the price of the harp it’s how you play the harp !

I like Lee Oskar diatonic harmonicas. They last longer then Hohner and they’re the same price

All the harp players I know use either Lee Oskars or Hohner Special 20’s. I play both, but am switching over to the Oskars because I have yet to blow out a reed on one of those. They are in the 30 buck range. The Hohner blues harp is good also, I have a couple of those. The Marine Bands were used back when there weren’t as many choices.

I have Hohner Special 20s. Don’t buy a harmonica with a wooden comb.

Playing the harmonica can be very rewarding. There are many web sites and You Tube videos to help the beginner.
